The uppers, and the soles, are made of a closed-cell EVA foam. They are super comfortable and very easy to clean. The neoprene heel adds great comfort and can also beflipped down to become a cool slide. Since the sole is EVA, they won't mark floors. They are machine washable, just don't put them in the dryer.
